Presenter Derek Troy, BCxP, LEED AP, will explain how commissioning should be incorporated into project drawings, specifications, and early planning to establish clear expectations before construction begins. Attendees will explore commonly commissioned systems, team roles, testing responsibilities, documentation requirements, and coordination considerations that help commissioning efforts run smoothly.

The program will also address the unique demands of complex facilities, including data centers and industrial projects, where early alignment and well-defined procedures are essential to successful system start-up and long-term performance.

About the Presenter

Derek Troy leads McClure Engineering’s commissioning department, guiding pre-start-up preparation and the development of field-testing procedures. His experience spans construction management, project management, system start-up, total building commissioning, and retro-commissioning focused on reducing energy consumption and improving operations.

With a strong field presence and a background as a general contractor, Derek brings a practical, team-centered perspective to commissioning. His previous experience includes federal and industrial projects ranging in value from $32 million to $680 million.
